Long Island buyer grabs south suburban retail properties

Shopping malls are under siege, but that hasn’t stopped retail investors from buying up even the most troubled ones.

A firm from Long Island acquired ailing River Oaks Center in Calumet City, the largest enclosed mall in the south suburbs.

Namdar Realty Group, with partner Mason Asset Management, also bought smaller retail properties nearby, the Landings Shopping Center in Lansing and Matteson Town Center, and has told retail brokers here that it’s looking for more local assets…Please click here to read Lee Murphy’s story in Crain’s.
