Tax increment financing districts in the south and southwest suburbs had mixed revenue results last year compared with 2014, according to a new report from Cook County Clerk David Orr’s office.

Tax increment financing, or TIF, districts are widespread in the Southland, with communities using incremental increases in property tax revenue to pay for public improvements such as new streets, water and sewer lines and sidewalks; or in some instances used to pay the principal and interest on bonds to finance those improvements…Please click here to read Mike Nolan’s story in the Tribune/Daily Southtown.
