From the Chicago Community Trust:
RFP – Achieving Sustainable Development through Community-Based Practices. Submission Deadline: 01/05/2015
Outcomes Sought The Chicago Community Trust seeks up to ten communities to serve as models for community-based practices in sustainable development. Priority applicants will pursue one or more of these priority local outcomes within communities and neighborhoods:
A cohesive landscape: Replace vacant and underutilized parcels with walkable, compact and transit-friendly land uses that conjoin communities, connect employment centers to the workforce that serves them, and conserve open space, reversing out migration of people and resources and channeling investments back to developed areas.
A resource-efficient built environment: Replace obsolete, resource-intensive buildings and infrastructure with facilities that reduce carbon emissions, minimize the consumption of scarce natural resources, and promote social interaction, yielding ecological value for natural systems and economic value for households, businesses and governments.
Green market development: Build market innovation for competitive, scalable products and services that add value to natural systems and contribute to robust and equitable local economies.
