The ComEd Green Region Program is now accepting application for the 2016 grants cycle.
Openlands is partnering with ComEd to administer the ComEd Green Region Program. Recognizing that open space in our communities is a crucial element of the quality of our lives, the ComEd program awards grants for municipal efforts to plan for, protect, and improve open land in ComEd’s service area of northern Illinois.
The grants, of up to $10,000 each, will support existing open space projects that focus on conservation, preservation and improvements to local parks and recreation resources. Grant recipients can use Green Region grants in combination with other funding sources to cover a portion of the expenses associated with developing and/or supporting their open space programs. Applications are accepted March 15 at www.openlands.org/GreenRegion. Because of continuing strong applications for this program, past winners will not be eligible for grants this year.
ComEd Powering Safe Communities, which began last year and in 2016 has a new partner in the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus to fund initiatives that support safety in our local neighborhoods. Applications will open next week and will also run until March 15. The link and more information will be posted as it becomes available.
