E-Waste Recycling Starting in February and March 2010, Aurora, Northbrook, Lisle, Oak Park, Orland Park and Oswego will have e-waste recycling services for permanent drop locations. They will be open on weekdays with limited hours and on Saturday mornings on a semi-monthly basis. These municipalities will receive free e-waste recycling, but will incur a $50 pick up fee and $0.15 per pound cost for nonconforming e-waste. It is expected that the recycling programs in these communities will account for 622,000 lbs of e-waste. The programs will result in a total cost savings to the towns of approximately $150,000. The Mayors Caucus is also exploring opening a collection center at the Oak Forest Hospital in partnership with Cook County, as well as opening collection centers in Algonquin and Crystal Lake in partnership with McHenry County. The Caucus has been made aware of other communities that wish to provide collection services. As more e-waste recycling opportunities become available, communities will be served on a first come, first serve basis with through permanent drop collection centers.
